I so agree! I learned to crochet from my great-grandmother and recently started making prayer/comfort shawls. I love making them and after donating one to be raffled off at a Relay for Life walk, I have 5 more to make for the lady who won it! I'm so excited to make them for her.

My grandmother on my mom's side quilted and embroidered and although I've made one quilt, it was just one I tacked at each corner rather than quilted. My goal is to make another soon, but I'm so hooked on the crochet right now. lol

New to the boards, so hi everyone!

When I do something by hand I feel such a sense of accomplishment. I know that it costs much more to do the products by hand than it does to purchase something ready made. But...When I look at the pillows on my bed with beautiful lace edged embroidered withe on white pillow cases...I say...NO one has anything like this.

When I give a Wedding, birthday or anniversary gift. I know that they are never going to receive another one like it.

Great feeling.

I agree with all of you. I learned to embroider, needlepoint and knit at the knee of my grandmother. I failed to learn to crochet from her because she was left handed and I am right handed. The crochet thing was just too much. Also, I think I failed to apply myself to learning crochet because in those days the only yarns available were in primary colors and all plain worsted type. We have so much beautiful yarn to choose from now that I think I could make something I or my grandkids would actually wear out in public.

Craft On! :)

I love to scrapbook and make all sorts of crafts. I also love to do cross-stitch and sew (a little). But, the most special thing I do is crochet. My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was 7 or 8. She was so patient and sweet. Now I've taught daughters. Grace is 9 and loves to crochet. She has a lot of patience as well. Lena is 14 and has just joined us in working on our "granny gear". Crochetting is one of the things that relaxes us, gives us quiet time together and gives us pride in creating something with our hands.
