I hope this place doesn't become a free-for-all for personal advertising. This place could really take off and become something special but it seems each thread I open has someone advertising their business or directing you to their blog, which is advertising their business.

I am not advertising a business!!!! I DO NOT SELL ANYTHING

Out of the kindness of my heart.....I started my blog to share my work with people.
I DO NOT make money from my blog!

As a matter of fact....I give away lots of free stuff on my blog!
I thought that since this forum is filled with paper crafters, I would share my link.

Are you the owner of this forum? Did you set the rules? If you did, I will be happy to leave this forum.

Cheers,

Dorothy

I personally don't see anything wrong with business advertising as long as we all contribute in the forums in other ways as well.

I personally co-own a clipart and craft site and do my fair share of advertising and promotion.. But we definitely share project ideas, post tutorials, do design challenges and other creative stuff like that.

So a lot of times even though there is advertisement, there is definitely community involvement as well :)

I think my biggest problem is when we have to leave this site to go to another one to see something. I get a bit frustrated with that.

That's a good point! But I forget how to make a link open a new tab, anyone have those instructions?

Also, on my blog I am on a Design Team that I post kit pics and layouts I did using the kit, but that is actually a small part of my blog. I do a lot of other stuff there, just ignore the kit if you like and hopefully everyone will enjoy my other "silliness".

Thanks

I know how to open things in a new tab in my Windows Internet Explorer but there are times I have about 10 tabs and forget what I'm doing (which is easy to do). I've gotten to the point where I have to decide if I really want to look elsewhere at something or ignore it and keep going. Most of the time it's ignore it. Don't get me wrong, there are a couple of wonderful artists who have blogs that I go to on a regular basis and love, love, love there stuff but there are times that the "blog" is a distraction.

Altho it's nice to just share info with other stamping enthusiasts, I am interested in promoting my card business.

To open something in a new tab, you just right click on the link and go to open in new tab.

I hope this helps!

Cheers,

Dorothy

I think, since so many people are naturally going to have businesses, the moderator should create a thread topic that is specifically for advertising. That way, there is an appropriate place to advertise your business. I don't mind signatures with links to blogs and businesses, etc. I just get annoyed when you get the feeling that someone is only joining a group or responding so people will see their link, KWIM? Anyways, I am brand new and can't specifically comment on how bad the problem is on this board. I hope it's a good board.......
